Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a holistic treatment that treats the body as a unit. Osteopaths look beyond just the site of pain to all other joints and tissues with dysfunction to make sure you get a complete treatment. They can use a variety of modalities, including soft tissue massage, joint manipulation and articulation and dry needling.

In conjunction with hands-on treatment, there is an abundance of detailed educational advice around exercise rehabilitation and ergonomics. The aim is to give patients the knowledge they need to prevent these aches and pains from reoccurring and take control of their own health.

Rehabilitation Session

A gym rehabilitation session with an osteo is a structured and personalised exercise program designed to help you recover from injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions. These sessions aim to restore strength, flexibility, and functionality through a series of targeted exercises and therapies. After a thorough evaluation of your medical history, current condition, specific goals, physical limitations and pain points, areas needing improvement can be identified.

Based on the findings, a customised workout plan will be created, tailored to your unique needs and recovery goals. This will involve a combination of stretching, strengthening, mobility exercises and the use of gym equipment, such as resistance bands, weights and machines, to facilitate recovery. You will receive one-on-one guidance to ensure correct form and technique, preventing further injury, and progressive exercises that gradually increase in intensity as your condition improves.

Your progress will be monitored and there will be regular evaluations to track your progress and adjust your exercise plan as needed to keep you motivated and on track with your recovery goals.

Beyond this, you will receive information on proper posture, body mechanics, and ergonomics to prevent re-injury and, if needed, home exercise programs to complement your gym sessions and accelerate recovery.

A gym rehab session with an osteo is a collaborative and supportive experience, focused on helping you regain strength, improve mobility, and return to your daily activities with confidence and ease.

Dry needling

Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used by some healthcare professionals, including osteopath, physiotherapists, chiropractors, and sports medicine practitioners. It involves the insertion of thin, solid needles (similar to acupuncture needles) into specific points in the body, targeting trigger points or areas of muscle tension.

The primary goal of dry needling is to alleviate pain and improve function by releasing myofascial trigger points. Additionally, the needle may stimulate blood flow and promote the body's natural healing processes.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a beautiful journey, but it can also bring about various physical discomforts for expectant mothers. Osteopathy offers a gentle and effective way to manage these challenges and promote overall well-being during pregnancy.

By focusing on the musculoskeletal system, Osteopathy addresses issues such as back pain, pelvic discomfort, and joint stiffness that are common during pregnancy. Through hands-on techniques like gentle manipulation, soft tissue massage, and targeted stretching exercises, osteopaths can help improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance overall comfort levels.

Additionally, our Osteopaths take into account the unique needs of our pregnant patients, ensuring that treatments are safe and tailored to each individual's stage of pregnancy. Whether you're experiencing specific musculoskeletal issues or simply seeking to enhance your pregnancy experience, our Osteopathic services can be a valuable addition to your prenatal care routine.

Our team acknowledges that some women may feel nervous before their appointments, particularly during such a sensitive time. That's why we prioritise the well-being of both mother and baby by dedicating plenty of time to taking a comprehensive history, asking thoughtful questions, and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment before any hands-on treatment begins
